Waterfront Rambler Remodel

The owners of the Waterfront Rambler had one simple request: “We have a house on the Puget Sound, but we can’t see the water when we’re inside—PLEASE HELP!”

The first step in this remodel in Olympia, WA was to relocate the kitchen to the water-facing side of the home, introduce more windows, and open up the entry and living spaces. The design theme focused on bringing the colors of the water and tidal lands into the home, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and the stunning natural surroundings.

Light cabinetry and a perfectly hued glass tile backsplash reflect the beauty of the waterfront, tying together the views outside with the comfort inside. A double-sided fireplace in the living room further enhances the indoor-outdoor connection, adding warmth and ambiance.

With a family of teenagers, it was essential to create spaces for games, homework, and social gatherings. A long countertop area beneath the windows provides a highly functional workspace, catering to the needs of an active household.

To complement the outdoor waterfront lifestyle, high-quality, durable materials were chosen to ensure easy maintenance while maximizing enjoyment. The result? A home filled with natural light, open sightlines, and airy colors, allowing both the views and the living spaces to be fully appreciated.
